sthira-sukham asanam
This is my favorite verse from the Yoga Sutra:
The place/posture from which we view the world should be one of steadiness and ease.
I benefit from the frequent reminder that I do not need to sit in a place/posture of discomfort, contortion, and churning, that there is a still point where I can stand, from which I can perceive my existence.
I think it will be fun to explore the world with others through this blog.

I love that sutra. When I read it just now and saw it through the eyes of myself working so hard to make my church attendance pleasant, it brought in a whole new meaning to me.
I’m just going through the Yoga Sutras right now as part of my teacher training. Which sutra is that? I seem to remember briefly discussing it in class but can’t recall where it is at.
I like this. When I am comfortable and at ease in an asana, combined with my breath awareness, I seem to come to a place of peace and stillness within me. I’m able to tap into this consciousness within me on my yoga mat in a far greater way than I could in any LDS meeting. It is by far more spiritually satisfying to me too.
There is something about calming the mind that helps one to see their true inner selves and also that of others. I’m only beginning to learn how to tap into this. I hope to understand your true inner selves too.
Namaste!
The verse is II:46.

It sounds like you might have an interesting avenue to explore to understand the different reactions you have to the two experiences you identify. Are the differences in the experiences themselves or in your relationship (attachment/aversion) to them?
