I like how she said that the heart-mind awakened in the Great Love is the result of every truth path. It's so inclusive.

I agree, it's about experience. The beautiful part of my own practice, is that I see tangible changes in my perception and experience of the world. Imagine that - a spiritual path that actually leads us to more joyful life - even when it shouldn't be!

I've been talking with the guiding teacher for the local sangha here and she made a some comments recently to me via email that I think touches on this topic a little bit. I say that because it really is about living it and experiencing it to find the truth. It's not about being told, this is the truth and now do what we tell you. Here is some of what she said.

Once you've taken refuge in the Three Jewels you've taken refuge in the path that leads to the true result, and that result - heart-mind awakened in the Great Love - is the result of every true path taken by every sincere aspirant and practitioner. Doesn't that mean we're all in this together? One truth, many apparent paths...but only "apparent," really, because the path to truth is to practice on truth, the path to love is to practice on love, the path to enlightenment is to practice on enlightenment. This is why we call the vajrayana the "resultant vehicle"--we take the result and practice on that.

Buddhism I think has been a good fit for me because I like to question everything. I realize I have some authority issues and have never liked being told what to do, however, I don't mind being able to take some ideas and work with them on my own. To me, that's what Buddhism is. It's not about concepts, it's about experience. If you don't actually practice, then it's just words and will mean nothing in the long run.
